How To Remove and Clean the ABS Sensors

Okay, a short time ago I got an ABS light showing on my dashboard. Opened the Service Manual for my car and found that you could anylize the problem by jumping the plug with a paperclip, and reading the number of times the ABS Light blinks, count them, and then look it up in the book to see where the problem is...

My problem came back to the Rear Left Sensor. I removed the wheel and at first glance, I saw Two 10mm bolts holding the sensor in place behind the rotor. I SHOULD HAVE removed the Brakes and Rotor FIRST to inspect the sensor because it faces the axle/gear, ...and it was "very dirty", but I didn't.

I removed the two bolts and attempted to pry the sensor out using a large screwdriver. The sensor then snapped in two, I needed to find the other side of the sensor, so I removed the brakes & rotor to see the small magnetic "feeler" on the inside of the rotor, and it was very dirty! I was almost 100% positive that my ABS light would have gone away if I would have cleaned the sensor first, but it was not too late. I've attached two pictures showing the sensor in three pieces. The metal piece on the top right is the sensor itself (which I called the "feeler") above.

How to remove the sensor:
Remove the two bolts holding the sensor in, remove the brakes and rotor, you'll see the exposed sensor behind the wheel hub. There are large holes on the wheel hub, so turn it slightly to line up with the sensor, and use a long bolt to place on the front part of the sensor, and tap the with a hammer to remove.

How to clean the sensor:
Remove the wheel, brakes and rotor first. You'll see the sensor sticking out behind the wheel hub. Use "Sensor Cleaner" or Electric Part's Cleaner" to spray on the metal sensor, and an old toothbrush to lightly scrub the dirt & debris off of it. Re-assemble the rotor and brakes, install wheel...done!
